When I met up with Barry & Jennifer in 2018 to discuss their wedding they were very chilled out and relaxed about it all, their wedding suited this perfectly!
They hired out the Three Hills Barn wedding venue in Torpenhow and their day was so chilled out! Their friends and family were able to sit back with a G&T and enjoy the glorious weather we got!
On the morning of the wedding when leaving the house it was torrential downpour and I worried how Jennifer and Barry felt about it all, but as I got nearer to Wigton it eased off and there was some rays of sun shining through the rain, fingers crossed!
I arrived at Jennifer’s house to find the bridal party half way through their make up and hair, I was even offered some (homemade ;) ) pastries or a breakfast roll! As the ladies opened up a bottle of bubbly the two young boys were starting to get ready, but for men it takes a matter of minutes and so they were back on their phones after having all the women say how dapper they looked!
After a few tweaks to hair and make up the ladies slipped into their dresses before helping Jennifer get into her lovely elegant lace wedding dress, she looked amazing! She couldn’t wait to meet Barry and so the excitement began to grow as they were walking down the garden path towards the wedding car, a white 1989 Daimler Limousine.
When I arrived at the barn the coaches were still arriving and dropping off guests, before we knew it the bridal party were slowly coming down the road and Barry was still outside! Jennifer was dropped off outside the farmhouse and she went in for her meeting with the registrar. The weather made a turn for the worse and the heavens opened up unleashing another torrent of downpour just as Jennifer had to make her way into the barn, cue the white umbrellas!
I popped inside to grab a position at the front ready for when Jennifer and her father walked down the aisle, Barry was there waiting with anticipation. When Jennifer got to the front, her and Barry couldn’t stop smiling right the way through the ceremony, they were loving every moment!
Once the ceremony had finished the guests lined the path leading to the barn and the newly weds were showered with wave after wave of confetti as they made their way to the “cow shed” for drinks and canapés. Whilst guests queued up to pick their G&T from the Gin Blin menu, Jennifer had a sneaky surprise for Barry.
Barry loves pie. This is all you need to know to understand this.
Jennifer had ordered a 3 tier pie and brought it in to the cow shed to surprise him, his eyes lit up, until he realised it was to be shared out for all the guests!
The hours flew by and it was time for the guests to make their way back up into the main barn for the wedding breakfast. As the guests took their seats Jennifer & Barry had a quiet moment to themselves outside taking in the day so far before being introduced into the barn as the new Mr & Mrs Wilson! (Applause)
Speeches were as usual until it came to Katie & Julie who had a few words to say, “Thank You!” I think those were Julies few words! But then Katie left it with a lovely message, that after this day she can officially call Barry her step dad! Very emotional and a lovely part of the day!
Everyone had finished their meals and the band were starting to set up, I grabbed Jennifer & Barry for 10 minutes as I saw the cows had been put out in the field, and a week before the wedding she mentioned she wanted a photo with a cow. When we approached the cows they were very wary of a bride, a groom and a photographer walking up to them… Now I’m pretty safe at weddings, I don’t put my couples at risk or danger… But…. She touched the electric fence! It wouldn’t have been funny until the cows actually came to investigate what the crack was and must have sympathised with Jennifer! She told me she loves cows and giraffes, I was able to help on the cow side of things but I had to get a little outside help to get the giraffe so here is the photo of them both for you Jennifer!
All 3 of us managed to get back to the barn without getting shocked again, the band were ready to go and the dancing started. They opted not to have a first dance but just to get everyone up on the dancefloor and have good ol party!
Liz’s Country Kitchen were stoking up The Pizza Box, a converted horse box with a pizza oven inside! Soon there was a crowd gathering waiting for the pizza to be ready, first in line was the bride and groom, I even got a pizza to say thank you! You can’t beat that after a days work :D
Below is some sneak peeks of the day, I’m still half way through editing all the photos but couldn’t wait to share these, it was an AMAZING day!
